This is a printed circuit board (PCB) for non battery save Sega Mega Drive/Genesis games. If your game has a broken board, or you want to play a ROM hack on actual hardware, this is for you. The board is designed to take CMOS EPROMS or NOR Flash chips, details are listed below.
When using the EPROM chips, a solder bridge must be closed on the back, R1 if it’s a 4Mbit, 8Mbit or 16 Mbit, or R2 if 32Mbit is used. The NOR Flash is not supported for anything over 8Mbit, so no solder bridging is required for this.
While game saving is not supported on this PCB, games that do use battery backed memory(or FeRAM) will still play fine apart from the save feature.Â

Gold Plating, Bevelled Edge and Chamfer
The cartridge PCB has a gold plated surface finish and the edge connector is bevelled and chamfered.
The chamfer and bevel reduce the insertion stress on the console’s edge connector. The gold surface finish improves conductivity, reduces wear and tear and provides a great solderable surface.
